I am amazed at how good the information is, especially considering that people can get in there and add info of their own, but there are enought people who visit the site that they keep it on the level.

I am also amazed at how much information they have on that site, and wonder how many millions of pages they have!

I like how its structured visually, but because its so easy to "see" what you're looking for, the tendency for kids might be to hope for the best in terms of accuracy.

In point of fact, most teachers at my kid's high school will not accept it as a resource under ANY circumstances.

Because of the open source way it operates, I always advise my students to look at Wiki and then check the facts at another site. I love the idea that you can put in information, but it also causes me to check facts and figures I don't know out of hand.

Nice site, good info. Good way to steer students into looking deeper.

Everything about the concept of Wikipedia makes me so happy, including the very usable wiki portals. No, you don't always get 100% correct information, but neither do you get that on the nightly news or anywhere else. If the facts matter enough, you should always check a second (even third or fourth, etc.) source anyway.

As it stands, I feel that Wikipedia represents one of the biggest ideals of the internet: freedom to gather, communicate and spread information and knowledge about everything under the sun. If I could give this a higher rating, I would.
