I watch this show to keep things in perspective and realize how far you can take an addiction. I've never personally had an addiction, but I grew up around drugs (mother) and it tears families apart. This show reminds you what addiction can do to your family.

Understanding. This show teaches me about addictions, pain and suffering that other human beings go through. How they struggle, survive and move on or continue on the path of destruction. I get pulled in emotionally and feel the pain and struggles of the addictions, the families and the addicted themselves. My heart goes out to every one of these families.

I love watching this show... it portrays the real lives of those suffering addictions or very negative behaviors, and the families and friends who love, support and enable them. The interventionists seem to be pretty good, although I don't always like the techniques. It's uplifting when the ending follow ups show that someone has been successful after treatment for a significant period of time. Short term success is questionable... but the ones who have been clean for a year or longer are great! Kudos to this show!
