George Carlin was by far the funniest man to ever inhabit this planet. He had a way of looking at common things and every day life and seeing them from an completely different perspective than everyone else. Who else would have thought about how important product names were? "If Janitor in a Drum made a douche, who'd buy it? And Raid Feminine Hygiene spray, Raid! Yeeeoowww!" George very astutely also pointed out that feminine hygiene sprays were misnamed. He wondered why they weren't called "under leg deodorants?" My favorite bit he did was about masturbation. "If God hadn't meant man to masturbate, he'd have made our arms shorter!" "Don't just drag yourself in there and use yourself. Bring home flowers, or how about a movie and a quiet dinner for one?" "And be coy with yourself. Nah, I don't wanna. But please honey, fer me?" He said that one thing he never did was accept money from himself. I definitely will miss George, as will many others spanning the globe.

I've been a fan of his since I was a kid sneaking up to watch The George Carlin Show after Married with Children. (when I was supposed to be in bed). I'm so happy I splurged for the tickets to see him in my hometown 2 years ago. It was so worth it, because I had wanted to see him live for so long.

He was one of a kind and no one can replace him.

I loved George Carlin, because he was incredibly funny while he showed us how incredibly intolerant we were...still are. He made how seriously we took everything look silly, because it usually was silly. While his humour was often a bone of contention ("The Seven Words You Can Never Say on TV"), it was and will always be, perspective with at least a smile. More than a smile if you're lucky.
