Assassin's Creed has gotten tons of hype for its premise and promise, then once it was released, for its failure to deliver on a lot of that promise. I really enjoyed the game, but it's impossible to overlook its flaws, of which there are quite a few. The biggest and most obvious is the repetition of the mission structure. Interrogate, pickpocket and eavesdrop. Lather, rinse, repeat. Yes, there are the occasional citizens to rescue, but even that repeats ad nauseum. To be real honest, I didn't mind the repetition a ton, but it still smacks of lazy design. My biggest problem with the game is its intolerably frustrating habit of having every NPC act like you are the only person in the city that matters. No one pays attention to anyone else; they only notice when YOU are up to something. The raving derelicts are the worst offenders. Don't you think that in real life the drunk on the corner would be harassing everyone? But in the game, it's just you. Those problems aside, the game is fun.

The potential is there. The game would be more interesting if the character had some choices to make about how to handle a situation. Sure you could be sneaky - but why if it's just more difficult and the result will be the same if you just start killing things? Once the game is completed, there is no reason to play it again. Expect 20-25 hours of total game time with this title before trying to sell it on eBay!

The controls are fluid and the detail is awesome. Animations set the bar for games to come. Storyline can go both ways, you either loved it or hated it( i personally liked it). The game is repetitive but very satisfying. Being the first part of three makes me think well, it can only get better from here.

A kind of next-gen Grand Theft Auto in Crusades times: GTA is 1 of my favs so that Ubi based much on that violent, open-world series is a big plus in my book. They also blow past that series in many areas: the scope and gameplay is def. much grander.

The graphics are gorgeous even stretched across a 57" tv. Scaling walls, towers and rooftops like a primate is addictive. The flamboyant methods of killing people available to you grows as you progress through the game and become more artfully violent. The open world set in Crusade times is fab.

The side tasks of capturing flags breaks character. It helps you build up your button-pushing, wall-jumping skills but are still menial tasks with no connection to the reality the game is trying to submerse you in. Small thing.

I'm no fan of ultra-linear game stories. Some people are I guess. I'd rather just kill stuff. Ubi should at least let you skip the long dialog scenes, but they never do. Still, I'm happily addicted to this game.

this is either going to be a game of the year contender or completely lame. i've heard bad things about the game mechanics, but it also looks awesome. so tough to call. also, the story could be amazing or the sci-fi twist could kill it.
