I think scores here are only worth bragging rights. Why should I care if my show has a high score?

I see many people putting much effort into trying to save their show from cancellation by raising the score of their favorite TV show. What is the value of that score to those people? Since this site is still beta, does that mean demographics and other relevant data from this site are not considered by network executives?

Why is this site not a waste of time now for fans of endangered shows?

You know, here I am posting here almost daily, and even I have to admit that I can't imagine how this site would really make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things.  I mean, all it really is when it boils right down to it, is just another outlet for fans to get their causes (underappreciated television shows, movies, actors, whatever) noticed.  I can't imagine anyone looking here is going to see anything they don't see on any other open "forum": a lot of people talking about a lot of different things, and a few people desperately trying make use of the site to get their causes noticed.

That's any site.

I don't know how the fact that it has Nielsen in the name really makes a great deal of difference.  At the end of the day, television media still hinges on what those six people with the Nielsen boxes like to watch, whether a bunch of us get on here or some other site to try to support our shows, movies, etc.

It's true that the scores are meant mostly to be a "fun" aspect of the site, but networks are interested in the buzz on the site and specifically in who is making that buzz. Our goal here is to provide networks and advertisers another stream of information about who is watching and why. Some members have already participated in surveys regarding advertising on the Super Bowl, as well as on specific shows and specific topics such as the writer's strike for their feedback... so, as we continue to add more members and more diverse members (we hit 50K this month - Feb 08), the feedback from Hey! Nielsen will keep rising in value.

It would be impossible for us to say: posting here = saving your show, but we do feel that we are quickly becoming a valuable platform for fans (and groups of fans) to make their case and make some noise.

So, thanks for spending some time on the site!

Steve / H!N
