The Hollywood Reporter writes that Xbox maker Microsoft has partnered with Netflix to allow streaming movies and TV shows though Xboxes. By using the avatars in a new platform called Live Party, users will be able to watch their Netflix movies with as many as seven of their friends.

I like how its structured visually, but because its so easy to "see" what you're looking for, the tendency for kids might be to hope for the best in terms of accuracy.

In point of fact, most teachers at my kid's high school will not accept it as a resource under ANY circumstances.

If your favourite show isn't showing reruns or it's outside the normal viewing time, youtube is the place to go.

Because of the open source way it operates, I always advise my students to look at Wiki and then check the facts at another site. I love the idea that you can put in information, but it also causes me to check facts and figures I don't know out of hand.

Nice site, good info. Good way to steer students into looking deeper.

MySpace, NBC News and MSNBC.com are running a contest among MySpace users for the job of covering the Democratic National Convention in Denver and the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis. One winner will cover for MySpace's IMPACT civic/social engagement channel the DNC in late August; the other will cover the RNC in early September.

The contest is open to anyone over the age 18 who submits a short video piece answering one of these questions: "Why do you vote?" "Why are you the best person for this job?" Or "How will you stand out in the crowd and get the scoop no one else can?" Submissions will be whittled down to five finalists by judges Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," as well as Tom Anderson and Lee Brenner of MySpace.

I'm glad mySpace is evolving because I find it useful to keep up with special friends who love it. I keep them happy on the occasions when I update my pages and leave notes. It's silly, but I find I like to change my mood button and that alone keeps me popping back in. If they could make it more Mac-compatible, I would be thrilled.
